What I learned after adopting a rescue dog
Description
I adopted a rescue dog and quickly discovered that the reality was different from what I had imagined. I can share my experience with preparation, the first weeks, routines, unexpected problems and what I would do differently next time.
Before adoption I concentrated mostly on the obvious things: food, a bed, a leash and basic supplies. The more difficult part was preparing for the adjustment period. The dog needed time to understand the new environment, and some behaviors only became apparent after several weeks.
I can talk about how I prepared the apartment, introduced a routine, handled the first difficult days and adjusted my expectations. I can also share the practical costs and time commitment that became clear after adoption, as well as the things I would investigate more carefully before choosing another rescue dog.
